Hostel Rules

These Hostel Rules (Rules) must be followed by all the residents staying in any property operated by The Summit Hostels. Any breach or violation of these Rules will amount to a breach of the Resident Agreement entered by the resident with The Summit Hostels and may trigger our rights to terminate the agreement. These rules may be updated from time to time by The Summit Hostels, at its sole discretion.

Care of the Building, Common Areas and Rooms –

  1. Destruction of Hostel Property is a serious offense. This includes any and all acts of destruction, damage, and/or defacement of any asset or property owned by The Summit Hostels. The residents found guilty of committing such an offence can be evicted from the property and be required to pay all costs incurred by The Summit Hostels, due to such damage or destruction
  2. Any items of common use (e.g. carroms, common TV units, etc) provided by The Summit Hostels, as part of the amenities package, shall be used only in the common areas and not in individual rooms
  3. No furniture or furnishings in the common areas of the House may be moved by the residents at any point of time
  4. Any damage to the Hostel must be reported by the residents immediately. The residents will be liable to pay for the expenses or costs arising from use/misuse of the same by the resident, except for damages caused by normal wear and tear
  5. The residents must keep the keys of the rooms and cabinets safe. In case of loss, residents will have to bear the cost of replacement of the keys


Intoxication, Betting and Gambling

  1. The Summit Hostels is strictly opposed to possession, distribution, and consumption of illegal substances inside the Hostel. If any instance of such action is brought to the notice of the Hostel Management, The Summit Hostels has the right to terminate the Resident Agreement and inform the parents/college authorities, accordingly. The caution deposit shall also be forfeited by the resident.
  2. Betting and Gambling by any means is prohibited in the Hostel. In case of any such instance, the management has the right to terminate the resident agreement and the caution deposit shall be forfeited by the resident.

Conduct and Behaviour –

  1. Ragging in any form whatsoever is strictly prohibited and is a cognizable offence under the Indian Penal Code, 1860. All instances of ragging brought to the notice of Management, will be reported to the appropriate legal authorities
  2. Making loud noises, including playing loud music between 10.30 PM to 6.00 AM is strictly prohibited
  3. The residents should not behave in any manner which is deemed to be offensive by the neighbours or by the society either in the premises or in the neighbouring areas surrounding the premises

Security & Safety –

  1. Residents are free to enter and exit the hostel at any time, without restrictions, unless when intimated by management, due to any prevailing special circumstances.
  2. The Summit Hostels will not be responsible for the loss of any personal belongings of the residents. The residents are strongly advised to keep secure and lock all their valuables e.g. mobile phones, laptop, watches, money etc. at all times. While leaving the room or going on leave, it is the responsibility of the resident to ensure all their belongings are securely stored and locked in their cabinets or rooms. The Summit Hostels would not entertain any claims for the loss/damage of any loose or unsecured belongings of the residents.
  3. Building repairs and maintenance is a continuous and planned affair and management reserves the right to open and enter any room while the student is on leave to carry out such maintenance work. The same would be carried out in presence of a management representative.
  4. Possession, distribution and use of firearms, lethal weapons (including air guns), illegal substances and hazardous material are strictly prohibited in the residences. We reserve the right to search bags of the residents as well as their visitors at any time and confiscate any prohibited substances that may be found in their luggage or in their possession.
  5. The Summit Hostels reserves the right to update or revise the safety and security House Rules at any time at its sole discretion

Housekeeping –

  1. Regular housekeeping is an important aspect to ensure cleanliness and hygiene is always maintained in the House. To ensure the same, cleaning of the room may be carried out in the absence of residents as well, so the residents are advised not to leave their valuables open and unsecured in their room. The residents must ensure their valuables are always safely placed in storage and the rooms are always kept locked
  2. The services of the housekeeping staff or the caretaker can not be used for any personal work
  3. Littering the rooms and common spaces is strictly prohibited

Rent and Other Payments –

  1. Residents are required to pay the monthly rent on time, as per the schedule agreed upon at the time of admission to the hostel
  2. In case of default of rent, exceeding 30 days from due date, The Summit Hostels reserves the right to terminate the agreement and evict the defaulting resident.
